During August of 2008 OBI hosted a group of Americans and successfully led them to the summit of the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world, Kilimanjaro. As part of this trip Kobus Bresler, a staff member from Outward Bound South Africa (OBSA), was afforded the honour of assisting with the successful ascent.

The Rally was a great success despite bad weather on day one. There were a total of 20 entrants and several more were in attendance. The winning duo of Carl and Jeremy climbed more than 500m over the weekend racking up 1103 and 1182 points respectively. Jeremy was verging on delirium by the end of the second day and had to be encouraged to drink and eat, still managing to 31 March 2009
The Cape Town section of the Mountain Club of South Africa confirms that a meet and rock rally will be convened in Du Toit’s Kloof region from 23 to 28 April 2009. The meet is open to everyone and not limited to club members. The MCSA Du Toits kloof hut will be used as a base for most of the activities. 24 February 2009
